The Lausanne Regional Consultation on Media and the Gospel 2012

Lausanne Regional Consultation on Media and the Gospel

The Lausanne Regional Consultation on Media and the Gospel was held in Kristiansand, Norway in November 2012. It resulted in a Call to the Global Lausanne Community on Media and the Gospel.

The Key Task

The task of The Lausanne Regional Consultation 2012 on Media and the Gospel was to initiate and facilitate further discussions within The Lausanne Movement on how to “bear witness to Jesus Christ and all his teaching” within the complex, dynamic and strategic media sphere(s) of contemporary society.

The Five Dimensions

  • To listen and to learn from each other
  • To have space for shared reflections  and for networking
  • To seek to contribute to the wider Lausanne community, especially through the Global Conversation
  • To seek to give advice to Lausanne International on the way forward
  • To be encouraged, inspired and challenged

The Key Aims

The key aims of the Lausanne Regional Consultation on Media and the Gospel were as follows:

  • Develop ownership to the three media foci in The Cape Town Commitment among the participants
  • Create an international and interactive arena for stimulating fellowship, reflection and networking
  • Contribute to The Lausanne Movement Communications Focus on Media and the Gospel for November 2012
  • Produce a Consultation Report to Lausanne International:
    • Statement of intent or call to the regional and global Body of Christ on the CTC and its three media foci
    • Recommendations on future Global Media Consultation(s)
    • Recommendations on related media strategies

Also see this report on the consultation, which outlines key facts, features and recommendations with a concluding section on the way forward, which set the agenda for the Lausanne Global Consultation on Media and the Gospel in 2013.
