A Conversation with Phil Cooke

Phil Cooke is one of the most respected people in the world of media ministry and is known around the world as a speaker and writer. Based in Burbank, California, he has produced media in around 50 countries. Through his company, Cooke Pictures, Phil has worked with many leaders and non-profit organisations to use the media to tell their stories. He is a sharp observer of cultural shifts, and is quick to see the implications for the church.

In this inspiring and challenging interview from Future of the Church, Phil Cooke talks about the importance of the Church to grasp the opportunities that creative use of the media opens up for us. He says,

“The age of pastor as motivational speaker is done. . . . In many churches today the experience is not much different than going to the mall. There’s no mystery, there’s no powerful or compelling experience, and I think people are hungry to really be taught serious stuff about the Bible.”

Future of the Church is a project to help start a conversation about what the Church should be and to promote collaboration among churches. It features dozens of videos with Christian leaders reflecting on some aspect of the Church, and how things could be different.
